The executive mayor of the City of Tshwane Dr Nasiphi Moya appointed Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) regional chairperson Obakeng Ramabodu as the new MMC for Environment and Agriculture management in the City of Tshwane, on October 13.

Moya from Action SA, who became mayor after DA’s Cilliers Brink was ousted through a motion of no confidence recently, announced her members of the mayoral committee on Sunday, October 13.

The EFF Gauteng said it welcomes the appointment of Ramabodu as an MMC.

EFF Gauteng provincial chairperson Nkululeko Dunga said they have complete trust and confidence in Ramabodu, in his ability to fulfil his respective duties, both individually and collectively.

“We are committed to ensuring that all residents of Tshwane, from all backgrounds, are reflected in their government and treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

Dunga said the EFF honours this responsibility with the highest level of humility and commitment, understanding that it is the people of Tshwane who have entrusted the EFF with the votes and political mandate to play a significant role in the governance of the city, both legislatively and in the executive, to ensure that the interests of the people are represented at all times.

“The EFF appreciates the establishment of a government composed of various political formations, recognizing that this will require genuine political maturity and collaborative efforts to ensure quality service delivery and stability in the city,” said Dunga.

The party said that the appointment marks a significant milestone for the EFF, as it represent the involvement of the organisation in all three metros in Gauteng.

“This appointment cements the pivotal role of the EFF in the formation of local government across the province and the country.”
