The MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Mase Manopole, will on April 16, welcome the 2021 intake of unemployed agricultural graduates in Upington, ZF Mgcawu region of the Northern Cape.
This comes after a vigorous recruitment drive of agricultural graduates across the Province, who will be placed at relevant smallholder/commercial farms to undergo on-the-job training, under the guidance of experienced mentors in the following areas:
- Production,
- Agro-processing,
- Farm management,
- Governance,
- Business and
- Entrepreneurship (value chain).
Government has identified agriculture as a key job driver targeting the sector to create about a million jobs by 2030, a target that can be achieved through increased youth participation in the sector.
