Time for new generation of leadership

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” – Maria Robinson

The Land Bank hereby wishes to announce that Mr Ayanda Kanana has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Land Bank, effective 01 March 2020. This follows an intensive search for a suitable CEO, where the Board made a recommendation to the Minister of Finance, who has concurred with this appointment.

Mr Kanana is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with in-depth knowledge of the Agriculture Sector and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market. He has served on various Board structures and he is currently the Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee for the East London Industrial Development Zone. Ayanda has also won multiple industry awards with the most recent one being Public Sector CEO of the Year 2019 by the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of Southern Africa (ABASA).

“The appointment of the CEO, follows the recent appointment of the CFO, Ms Khensani Mukhari to stabilise the Bank’s management structures. One of the factors raised with the recent downgrade by credit rating agency Moody’s was the delayed appointment of a permanent CEO by Land Bank. We are hopeful that his appointment will ensure sustained oversight of the Bank’s operations and strategic direction” said Mr Arthur Moloto – Chairperson of the Land Bank Board.

The Board wishes to extend a warm welcome to the new CEO of the Land Bank and expresses gratitude to the Executive Committee for holding on steadfastly and ensuring business continuity.
