Didiza visits Mathulini in KZN to defuse tensions

The minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Thoko Didiza, and her counterpart in KwaZulu-Natal, MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, visited the area of Mathulini in the KZN south coast to meet with disgruntled groups and community members.

Didiza spokesperson Reggie Ngcobo said the minister’s visit is aimed at defusing raging tensions between disgruntled groups and the Communal Property Association (CPA) in the area over the ownership of land.

“Over the past weeks, tensions have been reported which have allegedly resulted in the damage of property and an attack on a farm manager, who was thrown into the fire.

“Following these incidents and letters of grievances from both groups, the Minister sent a delegation to investigate the causes of the tensions and report back to her,” said Ngcobo.
